European Markets
European markets were down on Tuesday as investors reacted to new data from the Eurozone.
- The Stoxx 600 lost 0.2%, led by a 1.3% fall in oil and gas stocks.
- Travel and leisure stocks bucked the trend, gaining 1.4% on the day.
- The S&P Global Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) in came in at 50.2 which indicates that the Eurozone saw modest growth in January.
- The UK's PMI showed a small contraction in services and manufacturing this month, which S&P Global blamed on strike action, rampant inflation, and higher interest rates.
