Google announced the release of Flutter 3.7, its open-source framework for building multi-platform apps, and Dart 2.19. 

The announcement was made at the Flutter Forward event in Nairobi on Wednesday.

  • Google's director of product and UX for Flutter and Dart, Tim Sneath, told TechCrunch that the team decided to rewrite Flutter's rendering runtime, Impeller, completely.
    • The new version fixes existing glitches and improves performance. 
  • Key features in the latest release include improved graphic performance, the ability to embed Flutter code in existing web and mobile apps easily, and support for new architectures such as Web Assembly and RISC-V. 
  • A new toolkit enables news publishers to quickly create a news-centric app with authentication, ad integrations, notifications, etc. 
  • During his keynote address at the event, Sneath claimed that there are currently 5 million Flutter developers.
