Amazon has closed its $3.9B deal to acquire One Medical.
The move comes after the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) missed its deadline to block the acquisition.
- Amazon agreed in July 2022 to pay $18 a share to acquire One Medical for $3.9B.
- The deal was subject to a waiting period as the FTC looked into Amazon's potential misuse of patient data from One Medical, among other concerns.
- Amazon closed the acquisition after the deadline passed for the FTC to block it.
- The e-commerce giant announced after the acquisition that it would reduce the cost of One Medical membership for U.S. customers regardless of whether they subscribe to Amazon prime.
- Amazon opted to cut the price of One Medical membership from $199 to $144 for the first year.
