In July, approved psychiatrists in Australia can prescribe MDMA (ecstasy) for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psilocybin for treatment-resistant depression.

Researchers are testing VR for psychedelic therapy as MDMA and ketamine are increasingly being trialed as mental health therapies.

Improvements in headset technology and the increasing use of psychedelics in therapy have reportedly intertwined in recent years.

  • Agnieszka Sekula, a Ph.D. candidate at Swinburne University, and Dr. Prash Puspanathan founded Enosis Therapeutics in 2020.
  • Late last year, Enosis united with Ovid Clinics, which uses ketamine to treat depression, anxiety, trauma, and OCD.
