CoStar defeats CREXi's antitrust suit

 

A California judge dismissed an antitrust lawsuit brought against CoStar by commercial data startup CREXi.  CREXi is backed by Mitsubishi Estate Company, Industry Ventures, and Prudence Holdings.  The judge determined that CREXi failed to prove that CoStar's commercial real estate listing practices and contracting terms were anti-competitive.  The lawsuit alleged CoStar abused its market position to stop agents from working with CREXi and spent billions of dollars buying up and elbowing out competitors.  CoStar sued CREXi for displaying, copying, and reproducing its watermarked images without permission.  CREXi competes with CoStar's LoopNet and offers a platform for commercial real estate listings.
