CoStar defeats CREXi's antitrust suit

A California judge dismissed an antitrust lawsuit brought against CoStar by commercial data startup CREXi.

CREXi is backed by Mitsubishi Estate Company, Industry Ventures, and Prudence Holdings.

  • The judge determined that CREXi failed to prove that CoStar's commercial real estate listing practices and contracting terms were anti-competitive.
  • The lawsuit alleged CoStar abused its market position to stop agents from working with CREXi and spent billions of dollars buying up and elbowing out competitors.
  • CoStar sued CREXi for displaying, copying, and reproducing its watermarked images without permission.
  • CREXi competes with CoStar's LoopNet and offers a platform for commercial real estate listings.
