Microsoft's Bing is now among the top 10 free iOS apps in Apple's App Store.
Bing has skyrocketed in popularity after Microsoft announced yesterday that it's bringing advanced GPT-based AI technology to the search engine.
- According to TechCrunch, Bing app downloads have surged by at least 10 times since yesterday.
- As of Wednesday, it was the second-most popular free app in the App Store's Productivity category, trailing only Gmail.
- Previously, Bing was ranked 160th among iOS productivity apps, according to TechCrunch.
- On Tuesday, Microsoft announced that it is integrating a large language model into a "new Bing" to aid in search, content creation, and answering questions in a conversational way.
- Users can join a waitlist to request full access to the AI-powered Bing. There is also a limited preview available now.
Edge app:
- Microsoft is also incorporating AI into a new version of the Edge web browser.
- As of Wednesday, the free Edge iOS app had climbed to No. 3 on Apple's App Store chart in the Utilities category.
