Netflix is rolling out spatial audio to hundreds of more titles, although the expansion is only available to premium-tier subscribers for now.
The feature offers a 360-degree, theater-like audio experience using only basic built-in stereo speakers and headphones.
- After introducing spatial audio last summer, Netflix has now added the feature to more than 700 of its top titles.
- Shows and movies that support the format are now labeled with a spatial audio badge.
- The immersive surround sound experience works on TVs, smartphones, tablets, and computers without the need for specialized audio equipment.
- Standard and Basic tier subscribers will still have spatial audio for a "small, select number" of movies and shows, the streamer noted.
- Also on Wednesday, Netflix said that premium subscribers can download titles to six different devices, up from four.
- Premium-tier Netflix, its most expensive plan, costs $19.99 per month in the U.S.
