St. Ambrose University (SAU) has partnered with VictoryXR to launch a VR/AR pilot to support the new generation of learners and strengthen student engagement. St. Ambrose, established in Davenport, Iowa, in 1882, will be the first school globally to test the launch of an entire augmented reality campus within the physical campus, according to SAU's President, Amy C. Novak Ed.D.

VictoryXR, a VR firm focusing on immersive classrooms and campuses, is partnering with T-Mobile and Qualcomm to build an AR campus on the actual physical SAU campus in Davenport, Iowa.

    • Students will use Lenovo AR glasses for the VR/AR pilot experience.
  • According to VictoryXR CEO Steven Grubb, the students will see "a world of learning that is otherwise invisible."
  • SAU's Engineering department has already developed a virtual welding lab.
  • Novak, SAU president, refers to the new VR/AR project as "another tool in the toolbox of high-impact learning and teaching practices."

According to a GlobeNewswire release, the global metaverse market size is projected to grow from $61.B in 2022 to $426.9B by 2027.
