Early-stage venture capital firm Athera Venture Partners appointed Rajiv Mehta as its general partner.
Mehta's appointment comes as the firm gears up for the first close of its $108M (9B rupees) fund launched last year.
- Athera,
formerly known as Investus India, has invested in 35 startups to date,
the most notable among which are HealthifyMe, PolicyBazaar, Pixxel,
Playshifu, and Euler Motors.
- Mehta joins Athera's existing GPs, Samir Kumar, Parag Dhol, and Rutvik Doshi.
- Athera is aiming for a first close of the new fund at $36M (3B rupees) by the end of this year.
- The fourth fund is looking to back 18 startups in the consumer internet, B2B SaaS, and emerging tech sectors.
- Individual
ticket sizes will average $2M (180M rupees), with the option to raise
funding to $6M (500M rupees) in promising startups.
- Athera's last fund closed at $44M (3.49B rupees) in 2019.
- Funds from the third fund were used to back 14 startups.
