Argentina's national team's captain, Lionel Messi, was honored with a holographic replica statue of himself to stand alongside ones of Maradona and Pelé.
The hologram versions were part of a special ceremony put up by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) museum.
Holograms of Maradona and Pelé appeared to honor Messi and send him a message.
- Messi led Argentina to its first World Cup win since Maradona did it 36 years ago.
- Messi scored his ninth international hat-trick in Argentina's 7-0 win against Curaçao.
- He surpassed the 100-international-goal mark, becoming just the third player to do so.
