The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) chair, Gary Gensler, will testify before the House Financial Service Committee of the U.S. Congress over his approach toward the crypto ecosystem on April 18.
The news was confirmed by the chairman of the committee, Patrick McHenry, during a recent interview.
In the hearing, Gensler will face questions related to his rulemaking practices and approach toward crypto assets.
- The event will mark the first oversight hearing of the SEC.
- The Financial Services Committee has authority over all aspects of the U.S. financial services industry, including digital assets.
- McHenry also said the committee would exercise extensive overall control over the SEC in regulating crypto.
