Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani has submitted a new bid of around $6.12B to buy Manchester United.

 This is the second bid from al-Thani, son of Qatar’s former prime minister, and was confirmed after receiving an indefinite extension for the deadline.

Other bidders include the British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus, and the U.S. hedge fund Elliott Management.

  • Elliott Management offered to buy a minority stake in Manchester United before the deadline, while Thomas Zilliacus and Sir Jim Ratcliffe made revised offers for ownership.
  • According to previous reports, Sheikh Jassim is considered the favorite to complete the purchase over Jim Ratcliffe.
  • Representatives of al-Thani met with the current owners of Manchester United at Old Trafford to discuss details regarding the bid.

According to Deloitte, Manchester United is the fourth richest football club in the world.
