Artifact, a news aggregator app by Instagram co-founders, is launching a comments section.  In order to leave a comment on a news article, the app requires phone number verification. The app also requires the creation of a profile to comment on, which would include a reputation score based on user votes on comments. The reputation score would also be determined by an algorithm based on other signals in the app. "My belief is that one of the most interesting things to do around news and written content is to discuss it with others," said Artifact co-founder Kevin Systrom. The app was launched in January and became open to the public in late February. According to data.ai, Artifact has more than 200,000 installs.
