NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell is leaving his role, effective immediately, after an investigation into inappropriate conduct.
Shell oversaw NBCUniversal's entertainment operations and worked for Comcast for about 20 years.
- "I
had an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company, which I
deeply regret," said Shell. It is unknown what the inappropriate conduct
or nature of the relationship entailed.
- No replacements have
been named to fill his role. Comcast President Mike Cavanagh will
oversee NBCUniversal's entertainment operations until a successor is
named.
- Mark Lazarus, who oversees NBCUniversal's television and
streaming businesses, and Donna Langley, who is in charge of theatrical
operations, will report to Cavanagh for the time being.
- The company's Peacock streaming service has grown in recent months, surpassing 20 million paid subscribers in Q4 2022.
