Peacock hits 22M subs

Comcast revealed that Peacock has surpassed 22 million subscribers as part of its Q1 earnings release this week.

Peacock subscriptions are up 60% over the same period in 2022.

  • Peacock revenue also increased year-over-year in Q1 by 45%, to $685 million.
  • Despite these gains, Comcast is still taking an overall loss on Peacock, spending $880 million on the platform in the same period.
  • Box office grosses from hits "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" and "M3GAN" led to a slight uptick in revenue for the Universal film studio.
  • The news came just days after the termination of Jeff Shell as CEO of NBCUniversal; Shell claims he was let go due to an "inappropriate relationship" with a female colleague, while Comcast suggests it was due to allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination.
