According to Deadline, Kevin Costner plans to step away from the hit Paramount Network Western drama series "Yellowstone.
"
The report indicates that Paramount Global and series creator Taylor
Sheridan plan to keep the franchise going with a new spinoff starring
Matthew McConaughey.
- Costner's agreement limits him to 65 days of shooting "Yellowstone" per year, to keep room clear for alternate projects.
- In
2023, the actor hopes to cut that commitment down to just 50 days for
the year, and set aside just one week to shoot the remaining Season 5
episodes; thus far, Paramount has apparently rejected this proposal.
- Costner will soon begin directing and starring in a Western film epic, "Horizon," for Warner Bros.
- It's
unclear which "Yellowstone" actors would move over into the new spinoff
series, but Deadline suggests the list will include several regulars.
- Paramount+ already streams limited series spinoffs of "Yellowstone," including "1883" and "1923."
- Though
they air on cable's Paramount Network, "Yellowstone" episodes stream on
Peacock and Netflix in the US due to licensing agreements that pre-date
the Paramount+ service.
