Alphabet's VC arm, GV, announced Luna (Dai) Schmid as an investment partner for its London office.
Schmid's
appointment signals the firm's efforts to ramp up investing efforts in
Europe. He will work with Tom Hulme and Vidu Shanmugarajah, with the
firm hoping to add another partner soon, most likely by Q3 or Q4.
- Schmid was formerly a VP at private-equity firm Summit, before which she was the VP at SoftBank Investment Advisors.
- She aims to focus on enterprise and fintech investing at GV.
- Since starting the London branch in 2014, the firm has invested a total of $500M into over 40 European startups to date.
- Notable European portfolio companies include GoCardless, Nothing, Lemonade, CurrencyCloud, and Snyk.
- GV has over $8B in assets under management.
