Amazon doubles down on delivery network

Amazon is planning to expand its same-day delivery infrastructure.

The company's decision to double down on its logistics network comes as Amazon's ultra-fast delivery services face growing competition from U.S. competitors.

Amazon has opened about 45 "same-day site" warehouses in the past four years.

  • The facilities tend to be located near large cities and play a key part in Amazon's same-day delivery services.
  • An Amazon representative told the Wall Street Journal that the company might expand its "same-day site" network to include 150 facilities in the coming years.
  • New locations are set to open in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Amazon's decision to double down on same-day delivery services comes as competing retailer Target aims to invest $100M to boost the speed of its delivery network.
