Donald Trump filed a lawsuit against U.S. journalist Bob Woodward on Monday.
Trump is seeking $49M in damages after alleging that he did not authorize the release of “The Trump Tapes," an audiobook featuring recordings of Woodward's interviews with the former U.S. president.
- Trump filed a lawsuit against Woodward, publisher Simon & Schuster Inc., and its parent company Paramount.
- The lawsuit alleges that Trump's rights and copyright interests were violated by the release of “The Trump Tapes."
- The complaint also alleges that Woodward misrepresented one of his exchanges with Trump by leaving out parts of the full interview.
- Woodward and Simon & Schuster released a joint statement saying that the lawsuit is "without merit," and that "it is in the public interest to have this historical record in Trump’s own words.”
