During its first global Web3 summit in Singapore

During its first global Web3 summit in Singapore, the China-based tech and gaming giant Tencent announced that its cloud computing unit signed deals with several Web3 giants, including Ankr, Avalanche, Scroll, and Sui.

The partnerships are expected to allow Tencent to expand and strengthen its Web3 strategy.

  • Tencent Cloud's deal with decentralized blockchain infrastructure provider Ankr will see two firms working together to develop a series of blockchain API services deployed on Tencent Cloud's infrastructure.
  • The collaborations with Avalanche blockchain, Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution Scroll, and Layer-1 blockchain Sui will aim to speed up the adoption of Web3 apps by integrating the firm's technologies and infrastructures.
  • Additionally, the company unveiled a new Tencent Cloud metaverse-in-a-box product that fully integrates several infrastructures for Web3 developers.
  • Earlier in February, Tencent Cloud also announced a partnership with the metaverse-focused project MultiversX, formerly known as Elrond, to develop blockchain-based products jointly.
  • The Chinese tech giant previously launched its own NFT platform, Huanhe, under the title "digital collectible marketplace" due to the legal restrictions in China.
  • Huanhe was shut down in August 2022, only a year after opening.
