Facebook parent Meta Platforms has launched the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region's first metaverse academy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 

The academy, scheduled to start on May 1, focuses on shaping the metaverse ecosystem by providing training.


  • The academy will offer programs related to extended reality to train graduates for careers in the metaverse space, Meta said. 
    • Meta aims for the first cohort to be at least 30% female.
    • It's open to any educational background.
  • Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar have already implemented regulations and programs encouraging Web3 technologies.
  • The metaverse academy was initially announced during the Leap technology exhibition in Riyadh by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
