Fifty-three percent of shipping costs go to last-mile delivery, according to delivery management platform Far Eye.
The delivery platform surveyed retail and logistics executives in the U.S., among which 59% said fuel was the main factor for high costs in last-mile delivery.
- 39% said it was address locations and 36% labor.
- According to the survey, on-time delivery rates are relatively low. Only 44% of executives said all or most of their deliveries were made on time.
- Moreover, only 35% offered same-day or next-day deliveries.
- Regarding sustainability, 40% of respondents plan to use electric vehicles for deliveries by 2027.
