Open AI's new ChatGPT language model chatbot has been the subject of praise, scrutiny, and deep concern among many.

Cloud executives from Google and Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently shared their input on the new AI tool.

  • Google Cloud VP Dominick Delfino criticized ChatGPT, emphasizing how threat actors are exploiting the tool to build malware and ransomware from scratch.
  • Delfino asserted that "there needs to be governance in AI to avoid abuse like this!"
  • AWS Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Werner Vogels is quite wary of ChatGPT and took to Twitter to criticize the legitimacy of the new tool. Vogels stressed that ChatGPT "is not concerned about the truth, but just about putting words together convincingly."
  • Despite the cybersecurity and legitimacy concerns associated with ChatGPT, some companies say the tool can be beneficial. Researchers at Accenture Security say the AI-powered chatbot can automate some cyber defense tasks.
