OpenAI is launching a $20 ChatGPT subscription service that will offer priority access to the AI service during peak times, among other perks.
ChatGPT Plus will offer faster response times and access to new features related to the text-generating chatbot, according to OpenAI.
- OpenAI says it will continue to offer the free version of ChatGPT. During peak hours, the base service is limited to a certain amount of users.
- It said that the $20-per-month paid service is geared toward professional and/or frequent users who may want around-the-clock access.
- In the coming weeks, OpenAI will initially send out invites to U.S.-based users who sign up on the ChatGPT Plus waitlist.
- It plans to offer the paid service to more countries and regions "soon."
- Relatedly, OpenAI says it's now actively looking at other options for business plans, lower-cost plans, and data packs for ChatGPT.
- It's also launched a waitlist for its upcoming ChatGPT API.
