  Some GOP lawmakers heckled the president during his speech, prompting criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike.


  • Far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) yelled, "Liar!" when Biden spoke about a proposed Republican plan to scrap Medicare and Social Security.
    • Last year, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) proposed to sunset all federal legislation - including Social Security and Medicare - every five years unless each law is passed by Congress again. 
  • Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said after the speech that people should have respected "the decorum and let the president speak."
  • Biden's speech focused on his administration's legislative achievements in infrastructure, the post-pandemic economic recovery, and job creation. 


  • On Wednesday, Biden traveled to Wisconsin to discuss manufacturing jobs at a Laborers’ International Union of North America training center.
