Russia has returned the bodies of two British volunteers killed in Ukraine as part of a prisoner swap deal.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the bodies are now in Ukraine.
- The two men, Chris Parry, 28, and Andrew Bagshaw, 47, were killed in Eastern Ukraine a few weeks ago.
- The families of the two British nationals said they were in Ukraine for a humanitarian mission.
- Parry and Bagshaw were last seen in Soledar, a city known for its salt mine that has become the center of a heavy conflict between the Ukrainian and Russian armies. Russia claims to have taken control of the city, while Ukraine has disputed the claims.
- The two men's bodies were returned as part of a negotiation between Ukraine and Russia, the second negotiation of its kind in 2023.
- Ukraine released around 63 Russians, while Ukraine saw the return of 116 soldiers.
