Venture capital firm Sound Ventures is looking into raising a ~$200M fund to invest in AI startups, per a Bloomberg report.

In 2015, Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary formed Sound Ventures, which now counts Effie Epstein as a managing partner.

  • While the firm is said to be targeting roughly $200M for the fund, the size and terms of the deal have yet to be finalized.
  • Previously, Sound Ventures' funds have invested in successful companies such as Spotify, Pinterest, and Airbnb.
  • According to Crunchbase, it's made at least 183 investments to date.
  • The interest in AI startups among VC investors comes after the success of OpenAI's ChatGPT online demo.
  • Recently, Canadian venture capital firm Radical Ventures launched a $550M fund to back AI startups.
