Visa has announced a new partnership with U.K.-based Wirex, enabling it to offer crypto-enabled debit and prepaid cards to 40 countries.

 

Visa has announced a new partnership with U.K.-based Wirex, enabling it to offer crypto-enabled debit and prepaid cards to 40 countries.  Users can pay with the cards in 250 different cryptocurrencies. The two companies aim to reach users in the Asia Pacific, as seven percent of the entire region's residential wealth is invested in crypto. Wirex offers cards that enable users to pay in cryptocurrencies, such as: Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, MKR, DOT, SOL, MATIC, etc. Founded in 2014, Wirex has 5 million users, mainly in the U.K. In 2022, Visa launched a no-limit Bitcoin card in the United Arab Emirates, alongside an agreement with the now-bankrupt FTX crypto exchange to offer crypto-backed debit cards in 40 countries.
