Visa has announced a new partnership with U.K.-based Wirex, enabling it to offer crypto-enabled debit and prepaid cards to 40 countries.

Users can pay with the cards in 250 different cryptocurrencies.

  • The two companies aim to reach users in the Asia Pacific, as seven percent of the entire region's residential wealth is invested in crypto.
  • Wirex offers cards that enable users to pay in cryptocurrencies, such as:
    • Bitcoin,
    • Ether,
    • Litecoin,
    • MKR,
    • DOT,
    • SOL,
    • MATIC, etc.
  • Founded in 2014, Wirex has 5 million users, mainly in the U.K.
  • In 2022, Visa launched a no-limit Bitcoin card in the United Arab Emirates, alongside an agreement with the now-bankrupt FTX crypto exchange to offer crypto-backed debit cards in 40 countries.
