A 14-year-old high school freshman in Michigan will receive affordable custom-made shoes for his large feet.
6'10 Eric Kilburn Jr. experiences foot pain because his size 22 shoes are too small.
- Hometown Life first reported on the desperate efforts of Eric's mother, Rebecca, to find shoes large enough for her son's size 23 feet.
- After the media reports went viral, the Kilburns received offers from several companies to make custom shoes for Eric.
- Representatives
from Under Armour and PUMA are scheduled to travel to Michigan in the
next two weeks to start fitting shoes for Eric's feet.
- A PUMA executive said that companies do not mass-produce shoes larger than size 22 because there is no demand for them.
- "My
heart feels like an anvil has been lifted off it," said Rebecca, adding
“I would like to give that same feeling to another parent.”
- Rebecca has started a Facebook group called "Big Shoe Network" to help other parents find shoes that fit their children.
