Healthcare company Transcarent is acquiring the virtual and primary care businesses of AI-powered startup 98point6.
While financial details weren't disclosed, Forbes reports that the deal may be worth up to $100M.
- Specifically,
98point6 is selling its physician group, self-insured employer
business, and a software license to Transcarent, a Palo Alto-based
startup founded by entrepreneur Glen Tullman.
- 98point6 is known
for its AI-powered chatbot that gathers patient data via text messages
and summarizes the findings for a doctor.
- Through the acquisition, Transcarent is "putting AI front and center," Tullman said.
He said Transcarent plans to combine 98point6's AI-enabled virtual care
technology and physicians with its own comprehensive care platform.
- Once
the deal closes, 96point6's remaining assets will be rebranded as
98point6 Technologies, which plans to license out its software to health
systems.
