Australian software company Atlassian recently announced that it would cut 5% of its workforce, affecting 500 employees.
According to a blog post, the layoffs are not linked to Atlassian's financial performance but represent a shift in company priorities.
Atlassian shared in its blog post that, "As a company, we have massive growth opportunities in front of us, particularly across cloud migrations, ITSM, and serving our enterprise customers in the cloud," and that it will focus on these lucrative business areas.
- The company's revenue was $873M for Q2 2023, representing a 27% increase YoY.
- Atlassian's talent acquisition, program management, and research divisions are among those most affected by the layoffs.
- Affected employees will be given 15 weeks' salary plus one week for each year of employment and job-seeking support.
