Florida International University (FIU) has received a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop VR games to train individuals for AEC roles, mainly focusing on robotics and autonomous systems.

The project will be a collaboration between the School of Architecture and the School of Computing and Information Services.

The personalized learning program will focus on operational industrial robots and adapt to differences in ability, experience, and sociocultural backgrounds.

  • The AI software will track the user's language to recommend specific lessons for improvement.
  • The project will analyze learning data using AI and Natural Language Processing technologies.

Zoom Out:

  • The funding news follows the launch of an autonomous construction robot in Pennsylvania, the development of the world's first autonomous solar piling system in San Francisco, and a new video from Boston Dynamics of the humanoid robot Atlas assisting on a mock construction site.
