Flybondi, an Argentinian low-cost airline, has announced that it would issue and offer all flight tickets as NFTs on the Algorand blockchain by expanding its partnership with NFT ticketing company TravelX.
The
expansion, dubbed Ticket 3.0, will allow passengers to buy tickets in
advance without having to specify their travel plans or the travelers,
offering a more flexible travel experience.
- Passengers
will also be able to change the names on the tickets or sell their
tickets independently on a secondary market thanks to the NFT ticketing technology.
- The move is expected to lower customer service costs and raise the income from trading fees for Flybondi.
- TravelX
issues an NFT version of the e-ticket when passengers buy flight
tickets through Flybondi’s website with a fiat currency.
- NFT tickets can be managed and stored in the Ticket 3.0 accounts of travelers.
- Flybondi integrates terms and conditions related to the ticket into the NFT’s smart contract.
- The partnership between Flybondi and TravelX first started in September last year.
- Spanish airline Air Europa also has a partnership with TravelX to offer NFT tickets tied to exclusive benefits and occasions.
- The use cases of NFT tickets are currently explored by more than 60 airlines worldwide.
