Game engine Unity has added a "Decentralization" category to its online storefront, Asset Store.
The move will allow developers to build games based on blockchain technologies, including NFTs and metaverse, using 13 software developer kits (SDKs).
- The chains and Web3 products supported in the new category include Algorand, Aptos, Flow, Immutable X, MetaMask, Solana, and Tezos.
- Developers will be able to integrate these Web3 products, resources, and blockchains into their games to provide gamers with Web3-enabled features.
- The "Decentralization" page on the Asset Store will also help game developers access verified solutions to manage digital assets, set up smart contracts, and build on blockchain networks.
- Utilizing the integrations, game developers will be able to change the ownership models in the games and let players generate, earn, or acquire in-game resources that can then be sold or exchanged.
