GitHub Blocks will soon be open to all

 

1. The senior director of research at GitHub, Idan Gazit, said on GitHub's Next Discord that the GitHub Blocks experiment would soon be open to all users. GitHub Blocks are interactive, React-based components for building rich documentation and enhancing workflows.    

2. Intel released the Intel Quantum SDK version 1.0, which allows developers to program quantum algorithms in simulation. Intel said the SDK's programming interface is written in C++ using a low-level virtual machine compiler toolchain. 

3. Google made new updates to Chrome to boost battery life on Macbooks and get more things done on a single charge. Changes made to Chrome include fine-tuning iframes, tweaking JavaScript timers, streamlining data structures, and eliminating unnecessary redraws. 

4. A recent Reveal survey among 2,228 software developers and IT professionals revealed that recruiting developers with the right talent continues to be the top challenge this year. The survey explores how the industry addresses developer shortages, communication and collaboration difficulties, and new tools and technologies developers are adopting to thrive in 2023. 

5. Android announced new policy changes to improve the quality of apps on WearOS and ensure a basic, consistent experience across all apps. Google said the new policies come into effect from Aug. 31, and it plans to use existing policies until then. 

6. A recent update from LastPass revealed that an attack on a vulnerable media software package on a DevOps engineer's home computer led to a security breach that happened last year. Ars Technica learned from its sources that the media software package was Plex, which was itself compromised around the same time LastPass was attacked.

7. JetBrains Academy, in partnership with Constructor University, launched a Data Science and Software Development program. The three-year bachelor's program offers three tracks: programming languages, software development, and machine learning.
