GOOD NEWS: Over 7,500 people have had their marijuana-related convictions expunged after recreational cannabis was legalized in Missouri.
Last fall, a majority of voters in Missouri approved a constitutional amendment that legalized medical and recreational cannabis for adults 21 years and older.
Under Amendment 3, people charged with nonviolent marijuana-related crimes would have their records reviewed and expunged. This rule does not apply to those charged with driving under the influence or selling marijuana to minors.
- Courts have already expunged more than 6,100 marijuana-related misdemeanors and more than 1,200 felony convictions.
- Recreational marijuana sales began on Feb. 6.
