Moscow released a new foreign policy statement laying out its plans to align with China and India in a bid to challenge U.S. foreign policy.
The
42-page document, which Russian President Vladimir Putin signed on
Friday, identifies the U.S. as "the main instigator, organizer, and
executor of the aggressive anti-Russian policy of the collective West."
- The document says that Russia should connect with other "sovereign global centers of power ... on the Eurasian continent."
- Moscow has sought to strengthen trade ties with China and India since the start of the Ukrainian invasion.
- China and India have become the two biggest purchasers of Russian oil since then.
- They have declined to impose sanctions on Russia and have not condemned Moscow for invading Ukraine.
- Chinese leader Xi Jinping visited Putin in Moscow earlier this month and emphasized the "close ties" between the countries.
