Ontario is finding it difficult to find developers for over 1.25M potential homes in the development pipeline.
The revelation was made in a report published by the Regional Planning Commissioners of Ontario.
The number represents the number of homes developers have been approved for permits to build, but the projects have not started yet.
- According to RPCO's chair Thom Hunt, the report suggests that the Ontario government does not have to implement its recently introduced Bill 23, which calls for urban boundary expansion into the Greenbelt area.
- He recommended partnerships between federal and provincial governments, not-for-profits, and the private sector have to be made to address the urgent need.
- The report suggests that the state's housing supply issue is not caused by the slow approval process or the availability of land.
