OpenAI launches ChatGPT Plugins

OpenAI launched ChatGPT Plugins that enhance the chatbot's capabilities to access up-to-date information, run computations, and use third-party services. Currently available in alpha and through a waitlist, OpenAI will prioritize users and developers subscribed to its ChatGPT Plus plan.

GitHub announced Copilot X, which leverages GPT-4 to offer a more personalized developer experience through chat and voice interfaces, pull request support, and answers to questions on docs. According to GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke, Copilot Chat offers a ChatGPT-like experience in the editor and natively integrates with VS Code and Visual Studio.

Mozilla introduced Mozilla.ai, a startup with a $30M commitment to building a trustworthy, independent, and open-source AI ecosystem. The initial focus of the company, led by Moez Draief, would be tools that make generative AI safer and more transparent and people-centric recommendation systems that don't misinform.

Android announced the release of Jetpack Compose 1.4 as part of the Compose March '23 Bill of Materials. New features in the release include Pager and Flow Layouts and new ways to style text, such as hyphenation and line-break behavior.

Oracle revealed that from Java 11, released in 2018, to Java 20,  recently released, the company fixed 15,420 of the 21,604 issues in JIRA, accounting for around 70%. The next biggest contributor was Red Hat, followed by independent developers and SAP.

Microsoft confirmed users in West Europe experienced issues using Azure Resource Manager on Mar. 23, affecting the use of Azure Portal, Azure CLI, Azure Powershell, and other services that depend on ARM. The issue was caused by a recent code change that introduced a subtle performance regression and resulted in resource saturation.

WordPress introduced the new Developer Blog that will serve as the central hub for developers and extenders to learn with quality content from reliable sources and share knowledge. The resource will contain tutorials on theme development, plugins, posts on WordPress APIs, best practices, and updates on upcoming releases.
