U.S. restaurant chain Panera Bread is set to roll out Amazon's palm-scanning Amazon One service across over 2,100 locations.
The
technology will be used as part of a "loyalty linking" program with
Amazon One that is intended to provide a more personalized loyalty
experience.
- Amazon One technology was launched in 2020 as part of Amazon's first Go outlet.
- The
technology identifies customers by scanning their palms, allowing them
to pay for items by waving their hands over a specialized device.
- Panera's
deal with Amazon will give over 52 million members of the MyPanera
loyalty program access to frictionless ways of collecting and using
their rewards.
- Enrolled customers will be able to use their palms to quickly pull up their details at Panera stores.
- The information will allow Panera associates to greet customers by name and remind them of their available rewards.
