Possible BET sale

 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is exploring the possible sale of a majority stake in BET.  The deal would likely include the BET and VH1 cable networks, along with the BET+ streaming service. Filmmaker Tyler Perry, who has a longstanding creative partnership with the network, is apparently engaged in early conversations to purchase the majority stake. Media mogul Byron Allen, who owns the Weather Channel and a number of local TV stations, has also reportedly had conversations about the acquisition. Paramount apparently expects to maintain a minority stake in BET, and continue its commercial relationship with the network.
