Recent studies have produced conflicting results on whether Vitamin D improves cognitive function.

Several studies have found that Vitamin D supplements may reduce the risk of developing dementia, while others found no significant relationship between Vitamin D deficiency and dementia risk.

One study found that older adults with low Vitamin D levels who took Vitamin D supplements for a year had better cognitive function than those who did not.

  • Another study found that taking Vitamin D supplements for six months improved cognitive function in older women with Alzheimer's.
  • However, other studies have found no significant association between Vitamin D supplementation and dementia risk.
  • While more research is needed, taking Vitamin D supplements may be a simple and safe way to potentially reduce the risk of dementia, particularly in older adults at a higher risk for Vitamin D deficiency.

Over 55 million people live with dementia worldwide, which is expected to rise to 139 million by 2050, according to the World Health Organization.
