A mass shooter killed four people, including one police officer, at a branch of Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday morning.
The suspected shooter, who police believe had previously worked at the
bank, died at the scene and, at the time of writing, it was unclear if
he had taken his own life.
- Federal law enforcement sources told CNN that the shooter used an AR-15-style rifle.
- Police reportedly arrived at the scene three minutes after the shooting began.
- Eight people, including two police officers, were injured during the shooting.
- During
a press conference, Kentucky governor Andy Bershear held back tears and
said that one of the victims was "a very close friend."
- There have been 146 mass shootings in the U.S. so far this year — or 1.4 mass shootings a day.
- The Gun Violence Archive defines a mass shooting as one in which at least four victims are shot, injured, or killed.
