Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced AWS Elemental MediaConnect Gateway to its suite of media services.
This new offering is a cloud-connected software application that enables secure, reliable live video transport.
AWS claims MediaConnect Gateway is ideal for customers who run 24/7 TV channels or stream live events as it allows them to quickly transport live streams into, through, and out of the cloud and at a lower cost.
- According to the AWS website, MediaConnect Gateway can transport live video footage from an on-premises source or another MediaConnect source and send it to one or more destinations.
- Users can leverage industry-standard encryption to secure live videos and add a quality-of-service layer over standard IP transport to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality video content.
- The software application also connects to AWS monitoring services, such as Amazon CloudWatch, to provide an overview of network performance metrics. Users can also view, monitor, and control live video feeds using the AWS Management Console.
