Italy’s largest cloud provider acquires hydroelectric power plants

 


Italy's largest cloud provider Aruba has acquired two hydroelectric power plants located in the province of Bergamo in northern Italy.

 The new hydropower plants are called "Paladina" and "Ponte Briolo" and have a total capacity of 2MW. 

The two hydropower plants are situated near Aruba's Global Cloud Data Center in Ponte San Pietro, a town in the province of Bergamo.   

  • The 200,000 sq.m data cloud data center is Italy's largest data center campus. 
  • This acquisition will enable Aruba to run green data centers using renewable energy sources by increasing its production capacity to ensure sustainability and reduce environmental impact. 
  • Aruba's full network of hydroelectric power plants has a capacity of 9.2MW for clean energy production. 
  • Aruba has aligned itself with several climate initiatives, including the European Green Digital Coalition and the Climate Neutral Data Center pact.
