An IDC White Paper sponsored by Microsoft reveals public cloud adoption trends in Australia and New Zealand.
According to the document, Australian public cloud spending is projected to increase in size by 83% from $8.5B in 2022 to $15B in 2026 with a CAGR of 16%, while New Zealand’s public cloud spending is poised to grow from $1.61B in 2022 to $3.16B in 2026 with a CAGR of 18%.
The IDC predicts that by 2026, public cloud deployments will contribute over $76.5B to Australia’s economy and $13B to New Zealand’s economy.
- The data shows that the increased public cloud adoption will create 596,750 new jobs in Australia and 134,000 in New Zealand, including organizations that are adopting the cloud and suppliers of hardware, software, and services required for public cloud deployment.
- The white paper finds that the driving forces behind a surge in public cloud adoption in both countries include the effects of COVID-19 on working models, a focus on cost optimization among IT leaders, and a push for a digital transformation.
- In terms of the advantages of implementing cloud-based services and solutions, the white paper lists regulatory compliance, improved sustainability, and pricing as the top three advantages in Australia, fulfilling digital sovereignty, establishing a local cloud ecosystem, and regulatory compliance in New Zealand.
