David's Bridal considers liquidation

David's Bridal plans to liquidate its assets if it cannot find a buyer for its business.

The wedding attire retailer still seeks to sell itself as a going concern after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday.

  • CEO James Marcum said in the filing that the company would begin an "orderly liquidation" of its assets if a buyer cannot be found.
  • David's Bridal has hired liquidation and restructuring firm Gordon Brothers Retail Partners to establish procedures for shutting down its business.
  • The company operates 294 locations in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., plus eight franchised stores in Mexico.
  • Marcum partially attributed the bankruptcy to costs related to the company's store fleet.
