In a speech to CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Warner Bros

In a speech to CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav assured theater owners that the company plans to continue supporting theatrical releases for all of its original films.

Zaslav told the crowd "we believe in full windowing" and that the company's leadership team is "in no rush to bring movies" to the newly-merged HBO Max/Discovery+ service.

Zaslav referred to WBD as "a storytelling business" which prioritizes theatrical screenings as "a community experience."

  • Zaslav is the first CEO of a major entertainment conglomerate to address CinemaCon in the modern era; traditionally, this role goes to studio heads or marketing and distribution executives.
  • WBD also screened the upcoming superhero film "The Flash" for theater owners during the event.
  • During his remarks, National Association of Theatre Owners head John Fithian praised streamers Apple and Amazon for continuing to support theatrical releases, and said it's "irrefutable... that theatrical is the keystone for the movie industry."
