Spotify discontinues social audio app

 

Spotify is discontinuing Spotify Live, its equivalent to Clubhouse.  Spotify Live was previously called Spotify Greenroom when it launched in June 2021.  In March 2021, Spotify bought startup Betty Labs and, thus, Locker Room, which later became Spotify Live. The acquisition cost Spotify €57M (~$62M). With the decline of the social audio apps and model, Spotify began to cancel Spotify Live's original shows.  Even as the app is now being discontinued, Music Ally reports that some of the Spotify Live shows will be converted into podcasts on the main streaming app.
