This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) has been canceled after facing "resourcing challenges," according to show organizer ReedPop.
The annual gaming trade show was scheduled to take place in June at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
- The cancellation affects “both the digital and physical events" for E3 and comes after Ubisoft, Xbox, Nintendo, and Sony said they would not attend.
- ReedPop understands that "interested companies wouldn’t have playable demos ready and that resourcing challenges made being at E3 this summer an obstacle they couldn’t overcome," its global VP of gaming told The Verge.
- This year's expo would have marked the first in-person event since 2019.
- E3 was completely canceled in 2022 and 2020 for the first time since 1995. In 2021, it held an online-only event.
- However, gaming enthusiasts have a few other events to look forward to this summer:
- Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest takes place on June 8 in Los Angeles.
- Ubisoft is hosting its Forward Live event on June 12, also in Los Angeles
- Nintendo and PlayStation are expected to host digital events around the same time.
